Pastor Collins

Rev. Dr. David W. Collins III has served as an ordained pastor of the ELCA for over 27 years. He came to St. John in January of 2015 after having served parishes in other cities of Texas and in Nebraska. He graduated with honors from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and theology, and minors in Greek, speech, and drama. In addition, he was part of the Christ College honors program in the Humanities. Rev. Dr. Collins then received his Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio and a Doctor of Ministry from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.

A noted writer, scholar, and trained spiritual director, Rev. Dr. Collins lives with his wife of 28 years, Lisa, and children Andrew, Alex, and Alyssa (and dog, Penelope). He enjoys reading, sports (especially hockey, football, and baseball), and needlework. He is always ready to hear a good story and welcomes the opportunity for questions and engaging conversation.
