Opportunities to Serve

Opportunities to Serve

There is an ongoing need for volunteers to serve within the church. Outside of special project volunteers, there is a year-round need for volunteers to serve as part of worship, education, etc. For more information on any of these opportunities, please contact the church office.

Altar Guide

Responsible for setting up and preparing the Altar for the worship service. Typically requires an hour to set up prior to worship (typically on a Saturday) and then an hour to clean up after worship.

Acolyte

Great opportunity for children to participate in worship; responsibilities include lighting and extinguishing candles and assisting with communion as ushers.

Greeter

Work with the ushers before service to greet parishioners and guests and welcome them to worship.

Reader

As part of the liturgy, a first and second lesson from the Bible is read by the reader. Prior to the worship service, the reader will receive the readings for worship via email to review and practice. The psalm reading for the day is included in the worship readings.

Usher

Provide assistance prior to, during and after worship services. Prior to the service, they greet and hand out worship bulletins. During the service they provide direction during communion and help collect the offering. After services, they ensure the church has been tidied up, turn out the lights and lock the doors.

Building, Property, and Grounds Upkeep

Just like at home, our church needs periodic attention to keep everything in working order and this cannot happen without help from our church family. If you have maintenance skills such as electrical, plumbing or can simple operate a garden hose or pull weeds, your help is needed and appreciated.

Sunday School Teacher

Teaching is essential to our tradition of equipping disciples, and teachers are always needed. Sunday School starts a 9:00 a.m. and runs almost every Sunday for all age groups.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School can take many weeks of planning and requires many volunteers to be successful. Every year we need of many volunteers to assist our directors.

General Office Assistance

Many things take place behind the scenes to maintain the church organization and help is always welcome to assist with preparing bulletins, mail outs, and filling in for the office manager from time to time.
